How to reset a frozen iPhone
Labels:
iPhone
My iPhone is completely frozen. I tried holding the button down at the top to turn it off, but it's not working. How can I reset it?
To perform a hard reset, you hold down the sleep/wake button at the top of the iphone and the home button on the front. Keep holding them both down until the screen turns black and the Apple logo appears. Wait a few seconds for the start up process to complete, and your iphone should be back to normal.
This should not cause any loss of your data or applications installed on the iphone. To avoid this in the future, it is a good idea to periodically reset your iphone whenever the performance becomes sluggish.

Tech,
Could you explain what you mean by 'resetting your iPhone?'

Hi Hubler,
Resetting your iphone involves a full shutdown of the system, powering off, then re-loading the operating system and applications. This is different than when you push the sleep button, which only places the phone in a "hibernate" mode of lower power consumption.
Hope that helps.
